Rapid 3D Hologram Calculation-Image-based Multi-Layered Approach for Realistic 3D Holographic Image Reconstruction
Daping Chu,Daping Chu,

A rapid algorithm for the computation of multi-view multi-layered holograms is developed based on Fourier-Fresnel calculations on layered sections of a 3D object rendered as color images and depth maps from several views. The collection of these multi-layered holograms are then angularly tiled to provide wide field of view 3D images with accommodation, occlusion and view-dependent shading 3D cues.

Yung Hsu Award Candidate Design of Holographic Optical Shuttle
Yung Hsu,Yen-Chang Chu,Fey Lin,Kun-Huang Chen,Chi-Wai Chow,Jing-Heng Chen,

In this paper, a design of holographic optical shuttle is proposed. A 3-port device was fabricated with insertion and return losses of about 1.9 and 33 dB, respectively. The isolation can be higher than 39 dB.

Po-Yuan HSIEH Award Candidate Resolution Enhanced Integral Image Microscope with Liquid Crystal Wedge
Po-Yuan HSIEH,Wen-Chen Chu,Yuan Hsuan1,Manuel Martinez-Corral,Genaro Saavedra,Yi-Pai Huang,

In this presentation, a high resolution integral image microscope system with LC devices was proposed. With a LC plane plate or a LC wedge placed in the light field system, the resolution of integral image microscope can be improved by combining images with displacement.

Xin-Ji Lai Award Candidate Angular- and polarization-multiplexing with spatial light modulators in digital holographic microscopy
Xin-Ji Lai,Han-Yen Tu,Yu-Chih Lin,Chau-Jern Cheng,

In this work, we present an angular- and polarization- multiplexing system based on spatial light modulator to replace mechanism scanning in beam-rotation method. The primarily experimental results of resolution enhancement in synthetic aperture digital holographic microscopy are demonstrated.

Chen Yen Lin Award Candidate Image Analysis of the Target inside Turbid Media in Volume Holographic Imaging System
Chen Yen Lin,Hsi Hsun Chen,Yuan Luo,

The volume holographic imaging system (VHIS) has the capability to obtain not only the image coming from the surface of the thick sample but also the images beneath the surface of the sample. The scattering light causing from the turbid media when the thickness of the turbid media is gradually increased affects the contrast and resolution in VHIS. We explore the maximum imaging depth in VHIS as the turbid media is presented in the system based on the resolution and contrast of the images from the simulations and experiments. Utilizing the Monte Carlo ray tracing and K-sphere method in the commercial software package, the turbid media and VHIS are modeled in the software. The images from the VHIS experiment show the consistency with images in the simulation considering the resolution
